Since I got settled in California, I’ve been discovering routes and finally got a chance for a ride in Los Ángeles area, so I went to Hollywood. I learned that people in California love hiking and wanted to visit the Hollywood sign, so I did my research before exploring the area. If you arrive from another location, you can park your car close to the Hollywood Reservoir that has different starting points where you can find parking on the street to explore the area. There is a bike path in the reservoir that’s good for any type of cyclist, walking, running, and enjoying with the family where you have a view of the Hollywood sign above the lake, which is pretty nice. Due to the pandemic some trails we’re closed so you’ll have to do some research before your trip. Road bikers looking for hills and curves will certainly find their training.
Alchemy Arktos 29 Carbon // 140MM Rear // 160MM Front // Starting At $4,899Two paths will take you to the Hollywood sign viewpoint. The trail inside the Reservoir is one, not so bike-friendly, especially for road bikes. You’ll have to hike in particular areas because it gets narrow and bumpy. However, the Lake Hollywood drive is close to the north gate in the reservoir, which will lead you to the Tahoe and Canyon Lake drives to get you to the viewpoint as well. Follow the steep, challenging Mulholland Highway until it connects you to Mt. Lee and you’ll be riding, directly, behind the Hollywood sign.

Consider that the crowd during the weekends is impressive, and it’ll be hard to find parking anywhere around, plus you need to be more careful with inattentive drivers. Anyway, one thing’s for sure, whatever your cycling level or what you ride, there’s a path that’ll let you enjoy the view of the Hollywood sign and the city of Los Angeles. You just have to get out of the comfort zone and explore.
